US Ambassador in Hanoi Marc E. Knapper attends handover ceremony of Quang Trung Kindergarten in Hoa An district

The Provincial Peoples Committee and the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command on the morning of November 28 held the handover ceremony of Quang Trung Kindergarten in Hoa An district, Cao Bang Province. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial Peoples Committee Trinh Truong Huy; leaders of a number of departments, branches and the Peoples Committee of Hoa An district attended the event. The ceremony was honoured to have the attendance of the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam H.E. Mr. Marc Knapper.
The Quang Trung Kindergarten project funded by the US Indo-Pacific Command was completed and handed over to the People's Committee of Hoa An district after 7 months of construction. The project includes one 2-storey building block with 6 classrooms with toilets; one kitchen, one teacher's room, one garage, one concrete play yard and a surrounding solid fence with total area of 1,634 m2. The project is also equipped fans, air conditioners, televisions, water heaters, tables and chairs, personal belongings cabinets, document cabinets, a meeting table, desks, some outdoor toys. The project total value is nearly 12 billion VND.
In the school year 2023 - 2024, there are 78 preschool students including 4 classes of children at the age from 24 to 36 months old and 3 to 5 years old. The school's students mainly come from ethnic minority groups and poor families. The project which was spaciously built and fully equipped with school supplies and living facilities creates more motivation for parents to take their children to school.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the US Ambassador to Vietnam H.E. Mr. Marc Knapper affirmed that the Quang Trung Kindergarten project is a symbol of close cooperation which demonstrates the common trust of the two countries, contributing to promoting cooperative relations between Vietnam and the United States in general, between Cao Bang province, Vietnam and the US Embassy in particular.
The leadership representative of Hoa An district People's Committee thanked the US Government for its aid to Quang Trung commune and hoped receive more aid in many other fields from the US Government. The district Department of Education and Training, School Board of Directors, all teachers and staff of Quang Trung Kindergarten were requested to raise their responsibility and effectively deploy management work to promote the value of the project, contributing to improving the quality of early childhood care and education in a practical and sustainable way.
