The delegation of the Management Board of Cao Bang Economic Zone (Vietnam) and the delegation of the Department of Trade of Baise city, Guangxi (China) on April 2nd held a face-to-face meeting to review the implementation of the agreed contents at the regular meeting in 2021 and agree on a number of cooperation contents in the upcoming time. Cao Bang’s delegation included representatives of the Departments and agencies: Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs, Health, Public Security, Provincial Border Guard, Peoples Committee of Ha Quang district, Trung Khanh district.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Kien Cuong, Head of the Management Board of Cao Bang Economic Zone, affirmed that in recent years, border gate management agencies, local governments and people of the two sides have regularly maintained exchange of information related to border gate management, investment in infrastructure construction, and cross-border epidemic prevention and control. The two sides have stood together to overcome difficulties and challenges, enhance coordination to facilitate import and export activities at border gates.
Mr. Liu Junmo, Director of the Department of Trade of Baise city, informed about the implementation of border gate economic development management and proposed a number of contents such as: improving customs clearance at border gates, especially at Na Doong (Vietnam) - Na Ray (China) border crossing; reducing border gate fees; strengthening the propaganda to attract investment at the border gates; constructing a special-use bridge for the Soc Giang (Vietnam) - Ping Meng (China) border gate, etc.

Through discussion, the two sides agreed on and signed a meeting minutes with the following contents: optimizing the business environment at the border gates, promoting the relevant departments to reduce the border gate fee to be lower than the standard charge at other border gates, improving border gate competitiveness; enhancing information disclosure by jointly hanging up a public billboard on toll collection standards and regulations on toll collection in Vietnamese and Chinese; strengthening propaganda at border gates to attract investors and expanding import and export products; jointly holding a ceremony to announce the international border gate of Tra Linh - Long Bang which ranges to Na Dong - Na Ray border crossing after the diplomatic notes of the two countries recognized the upgrade of Tra Linh (Vietnam) - Long Bang (China) border gate to the international border gate.

The two sides reached a common understanding on promoting the submission of procedures to upgrade the Po Peo (Vietnam) - Nhac Vu (China) border gate. Accordingly, the two sides would jointly accelerate the construction of infrastructure, actively report to their superiors and direct relevant agencies to carry out the procedures in line with regulations. The two sides agreed to speed up the procedures for the construction of a special-use bridge for the Soc Giang (Vietnam) - Ping Meng (China) border gate; implement cross-border industrial cooperation, develop bilateral trade zones with high level of interaction, raise bilateral cooperation level, and promote local economic development.
