Then Tinh,
a unique folk song of the Tay and Nung people in Cao Bang, occupies an
important position in the rich and diverse folk song and dance repertoire of
the local people. Then Tinh is often performed during festivals, Tet
(Vietnamese lunar new year), and longevity wishing ceremonies of ethnic minorities.
The show of Then Tinh performance with the theme ""Original point and
Character of Cao Bang Then singing" included the following songs: Anhs trăng
Bản Giốc (Ban Gioc moonlight) composed by Pham Tinh, Đường về bản em (Road to
my village) composed by Dam Thanh, Hoa rừng quê em (wild flowers in my
hometown) by Hoa Cuong. Those songs were performed by artists, students and the
local people in the traditional costumes of Tay and Nung ethnic groups at the base
of Ban Gioc waterfall. The smooth and profound melody of Then singing and the
high-pitched timbre of the Tinh musical instrument have attracted and imprinted
in the minds of generations of people in Cao Bang province as well as domestic
and foreign visitors.
That was
the highlight of the Ban Gioc Waterfall Festival 2023. The event attracted a large
number of visitors and set a Vietnam record for the largest number of
