Overview of the meeting

Receiving and working with the delegation were deputy head of Vietnam Trade Mission to New York Nguyen Hoang Nguyen and director of the Vietnam trade promotion center in New York Nguyen Manh Hung.

At the meeting, representative of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce in New York shared some information on the Chamber's activities, organizational structure, participation in activities of United Nations committees, multilateral and bilateral diplomatic activities, the work of supporting localities to promote and connect with potential foreign investors in Vietnam as well as Vietnam's investors into the New York market.

In his speech, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province expressed his pleasure at the achievements by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce in New York in recent years. New York is known to be one of the states that has effectively carried out the work of preserving various types of heritage. This is an opportunity for the province's delegation to learn experience in managing, preserving and promoting the value of various types of heritage. The two sides also discussed the possibility of cooperation and investment between Vietnam and the United States in general and Cao Bang province and US businesses in particular. Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province also called for foreign investment from US partners to invest in Cao Bang province.

He briefed the socio-economic situation of Cao Bang province in recent years and the orientation for attracting foreign investment into the province in the upcoming time. He also introduced the province's potential and strengths in order to promote the culture, cuisine, services - tourism, land and people of Cao Bang province. He mentioned typical products that are popular with tourists and priority areas calling for investment, inviting businesses interested in investing in developing production and exporting medicinal herbs to New York in particular and the United States in general.

The delegation also wanted to learn about the management, operating mechanism, cooperation and coordination of the US and Canada in exploiting and developing tourism and promoting the value of Niagra Fall (one of the world's largest and most beautiful waterfalls located on the international border). That would help Cao Bang province soon complete and improve the quality of cooperation mechanisms and policies in implementing the cooperation Agreement on protecting and exploiting tourism resources of Ban Gioc (Vietnam) - Detian (China) Waterfalls. The New York - Vietnam Trade Council was kindly requested to recommend businesses to Cao Bang for learning about investing in the province and help expand cooperative relations with New York localities.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Anh, on behalf of the working group, expressed his thanks to the Vietnamese Trade Mission to New York and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce in New York for their warm welcome and enthusiastic support during the trip. He suggested that Vietnam Trade Mission to New York would continue to support the province in building and establishing cooperative relationships with foreign partners to promote the process of comprehensive international integration in potential fields; be an information bridge for domestic businesses who wish to expand investment activities abroad; and promote the culture and people of Cao Bang to international friends. This is a positive signal that Vietnam is a very potential market and target for US investors in 2023.

Within the framework of the visit to the United States, the delegation also worked with the Management Board of Niagara Falls (one of the world's most beautiful waterfalls located on the border between the United States and Canada).

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Anh expressed his appreciation the Waterfall Management Board for its warm welcome and presented the trip's purpose and the joint exploitation site of Ban Gioc - Detian waterfalls under the cooperation Agreement on protecting and exploiting tourism resources of Ban Gioc (Vietnam) - Detian (China) Waterfalls by the Governments of the Vietnam and China on November 5, 2015. He expressed his desire to learn from the experiences of Canada and the United States in jointly operating, managing and exploiting the Niagara Falls; and experience in operating, establishing and maintaining the activities of the Joint Working Committee to ensure effective management, operation and exploitation of the waterfall site for the tourism development.

The representative of the Niagara Falls Management Board expressed his pleasure to welcome the province's delegation. He briefed the management model and activities of the Management Board shared about the management and operation mechanism of the Niagara Falls area between the US and Canada, the establishment of the Joint Working Committee, the coordination of Management Boards of the two sides in operating the joint exploiting are, periodic reporting of the Governments of both sides, contents related to revenue and expenditure activities for reinvestment, and experience in immigration management and regulating river cruise activities.
